Mechanobiology sits at the intersection of biology, physics, and engineering, and so do the students who take these courses. Since 2019 at RWTH Aachen University, I have built a teaching offering designed for that reality: no single disciplinary background is assumed, and the goal is always conceptual understanding rather than memorisation.
The courses span Master's modules in Biomedical Engineering, Medical Life Science, and Neuroengineering, as well as intensive PhD workshops through the ME3T Graduate School. Teaching is structured around active engagement — paper discussions, data workshops, and hands-on practicals — because passive listening rarely produces lasting insight.
Below you'll find videos and materials targeting the concepts students most commonly find difficult. If a topic isn't clicking, start here.
